Laura Cullen, DNP, RN, FAAN, is an Evidence-Based Practice Scientist at University of Iowa (UI) Hospitals & Clinics and Adjunct Faculty at UI College of Nursing. Cullen is known for her innovative educational programs and for supporting adoption of evidence-based practice (EBP) by point-of-care clinicians and teams. Her work has led to the adoption of innovative and evidence-based practices; improved patient safety; improved patient, family, and clinician satisfaction; reduced hospital length of stay and costs; and the transformation of many organizations’ infrastructures to support EBP. She has served as the US representative on an international panel for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her research endeavors include collaborations with engineers to incorporate human factors in healthcare. She is an author of The Iowa Model Revised: Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Excellence in Health Care© and first author of the Iowa Implementation for Sustainability Framework©. Cullen has authored numerous publications and has given local, regional, national, and international presentations. She co-authors a regular EBP column in the Journal of Peri-Anesthesia Nursing, is a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Nursing, and participates on the grant review panel for the DAISY Foundation™. Cullen has received numerous awards for her work and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

Kirsten Hanrahan, DNP, ARNP, CPNP-PC, FAAN, is the Director of Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice at UI Hospitals & Clinics, a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and Adjunct Faculty at UI College of Nursing. Hanrahan is well-versed in EBP and clinical research. Her research interests include pediatric pain, implementation, and IV management. She has consulted for a National Institutes of Health multi-site study and is co-founder of the Distraction in Action© tool that helps parents learn to be a distraction coach for their child during medical procedures. Hanrahan recently served as site principal investigator for the US Clinician Wellbeing Study. She is an author of The Iowa Model Revised: Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Excellence in Health Care and the Iowa Implementation for Sustainability Framework. She has authored numerous publications and has given local, regional, national, and international presentations. She has authored evidence-based guidelines and has implemented multiple EBP changes in the clinical setting. Hanrahan is a recipient of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses Award, a participant in the Mayday Pain & Society Fellowship: Communicating Science & Improving Care Program, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

Michele Farrington, BSN, RN, PMGT-BC, is a Program Manager at UI Hospitals & Clinics and is certified in pain management nursing. Previously, Farrington served as a study coordinator, EBP mentor, and staff nurse in pediatrics. Farrington has tremendous experience and expertise in pediatric oncology and EBP, leading or co-leading initiatives since 2003. Farrington’s work has been awarded extramural funding, validating the strength of the projects and impact on nursing care. Moreover, Farrington has authored numerous publications related to EBP projects and has given multiple local, regional, national, and international presentations. Farrington is actively involved in multiple professional organizations and is the ORL – Head and Neck Nursing Media Review Column Department Editor. Farrington is a recipient of the Nursing Excellence in Clinical Education Award, 100 Great Iowa Nurses Award, Clinical Performance Improvement Award, Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses Honor Award, and Ear, Nose and Throat Nursing Foundation Literary Awards.

Sharon Tucker, PhD, APRN-CNS, PMHCNS-BC, NC-BC, FAAN, is the Grayce Sills Endowed Professor in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, Director of the Implementation Science Core of the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for EBP in the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University (OSU), and Director of the DNP Nurse Executive Track. Prior to assuming these roles at OSU, she served as the Director of Nursing Research, EBP, and Quality at UI Hospitals & Clinics and Adjunct Faculty at UI College of Nursing. Tucker holds board certification as an APRN-CNS in psychiatric mental health nursing and as an Integrative Nurse Coach. She is a change management expert and has cultivated research that has made significant and sustained impacts on science and practice in two areas: behavior change through mental health and wellness interventions and practice and organizational change through EBP implementation, training, and tools. She partners with scientists across the country and focuses on women and children, employees and worksite interventions for health, well-being, resilience, and mental health. Tucker is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows Program alumna and an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and National Academies of Practice. She serves as Associate Editor for Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing, publishes widely, and serves on regional and national boards.

Stephanie Edmonds, PhD, MPH, RN, is a Nurse Scientist at UI Hospitals & Clinics and Adjunct Faculty at UI College of Nursing. Edmonds’ clinical experience and research interests are in sexual and reproductive healthcare, specifically issues that impact healthcare delivery and patient-clinician communication. She is currently an investigator on studies examining implicit weight bias among clinicians working in obstetrics and gynecology, Black women’s experience of racism when accessing reproductive healthcare, and the cognitive workload of triage nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Edmonds has been a research coordinator for a large, multi-site clinical trial to engage patients in their bone health and is dedicated to applying methods to encourage patients to take the lead in their healthcare. She is an author of the Iowa Implementation for Sustainability Framework and educates nurses on how to read and appraise research evidence. Edmonds has authored numerous publications and has given local, regional, national, and international presentations, including the Woman Centered Health podcast with listeners from all over the world. She was a postdoctoral fellow with the VA Quality Scholars Program and received the 100 Great Iowa Nurses Award.
