Since the first edition of this book was published in 2017 (and was recognized with a first place American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award), the number of people we would love to recognize in our acknowledgments has increased substantially. Rather than running the inevitable risk of leaving people out, we will simply say thank you to everyone who has helped us in our work to encourage healthcare organizations to build a more positive culture of ownership.

Joe would especially like to thank leaders at the hospitals and health systems Values Coach has partnered with to build a Culture of Ownership, including the more than 1,000 people who have become Certified Values Coach Trainers, and Michelle Arduser and the rest of the Values Coach team.

Bob would especially like to thank his colleagues at Emory Healthcare and Midland Health, his friends and colleagues from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), and nurses around the globe who are committed to making a difference.

A special thank-you goes to the tremendous team at Sigma. This book was born the day Acquiring Book Editor Emily Hatch approached us after our presentation at the annual AONE (now AONL) conference and said, “You guys should write a book.” Carla Hall was our managing editor, Rebecca Senninger was our development editor, and Erin Geile was our copy editor. They made the process easy, enjoyable, and (relatively) painless.
